Previously, he was the editor in chief of Fusion. and a staff writer at Wired. Madrigal is the author of Powering the Dream: The History and Promise of Green Technology. He has been a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley's School of Information and UC Berkeley's Center for Science, Technology, Medicine and Society as well as an affiliate with Harvard University's Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society. He is the proprietor of the Oakland Garden Club, a newsletter for people who like to think about plants. He was born in Mexico City, grew up in rural Washington State, and went to Harvard University.
