Arthur Kilcommodon grew up in County Clare before relocating to Canada as a young man, where a long career touching on forensic and legal record-keeping left him with an enduring fascination for the gap between what institutions document and what they choose to see. He has spent the years since researching and writing narrative histories of crime, justice, and the quiet failures of bureaucracy, drawn in particular to cases where the official record and the human truth diverge sharply. He divides his time between Galway and Toronto, and when not writing can usually be found walking coastal paths with an audiobook of some obscure legal history playing in his ears. The Boozing Barber. is his latest work of narrative nonfiction.
