Susan Dalgety has enjoyed a varied career in journalism and politics and has worked in Malawi since 2005 on a range of governance projects. She is a columnist on The Scotsman. and, pandemic-permitting, travels widely with her husband, living in Malawi for six months in 2019 after a six-month road trip across the USA and a year-long journey across every country in the European Union. She was Editor of Scotland's leading community newspaper, the Wester Hailes Sentinel. , Deputy Leader of Edinburgh City Council, Chief Writer for the Edinburgh Evening News. and Chief Press Officer for Jack McConnell during his tenure as First Minister of Scotland. She is a trustee of the McConnell International Foundation, the Scotland Malawi Partnership and 500 miles, a Scottish charity that supports the development and delivery of prosthetic and orthotic services in Malawi and Zambia.
