Holding a Master's degree in Organizational Development and Change alongside a foundational background in Cultural Studies and Multi-Cultural Literature, Berdine combines academic insight with practical experience to create impactful literature for young readers. Berdine utilizes her background in Organizational Development and Change to thoughtfully evaluate and improve how children's books are designed. She saw a distinct need to elevate early childhood literature by introducing structural elements-such as foundational book anatomy-that are traditionally withheld until later grades. By providing early exposure to these concepts, Berdine ensures to create culturally rich, accessible stories where all children can find a sense of belonging and a lifelong path to literacy. Drawing on her hands-on experience teaching Preschool and Pre-K, Berdine recognizes the critical importance of establishing a strong foundation in reading during early childhood. She believes that reading is the cornerstone of academic success, unlocking future opportunities for children across all areas of learning. Her dedication to inclusive education is driven by the power of early literacy intervention during these formative years, ensuring that young learners have the tools and resources needed to thrive. Beyond the classroom and her storytelling, Berdine serves as the Executive Director and Board Secretary for a New York-based non-profit dedicated to youth empowerment, discipline, and cultural appreciation through music. When she isn't crafting imaginative stories that celebrate diversity, Berdine can be found baking artisanal treats, tending to her garden, or exploring nature trails.
