Autor/-in: Bex Fine-Firesheets

Bex Fine-Firesheets is a writer, musician, activist, advisory board member for TransFormative Schools, and program coordinator for "From Cannabis to Cuisine" at CUNY. Their writing spans fiction, lyrics, creative nonfiction, music journalism, and scholarly essays. Publications can be found in the Rumpus, MUTHA Magazine, Lumen Magazine, and Serving House Journal, among others. Their short story, The Roof, was nominated for a 2014 Best of the Net Award, and in 2018, they were nominated for a Pushcart Prize. In 2020, they won second place in the Pen Parentis Writing Fellowship contest, and in 2022, they won honorable mention in the ILS Fiction Kenya Seminar Contest. In addition to their writing, Bex sings and plays piano and tenor saxophone. Their main musical project, The Trees, is an experimental rock-n-roll trio focused on decolonization and celebrating queerness.
