Binay K Dutta has been engaged in teaching and research for nearly five decades. A Ph. D. in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, he was a professor/visiting professor in several universities. University of Calcutta, University Technology Petronas, Malaysia, The Petroleum Institute, Abu Dhabi, UAE, University of Alberta, Canada, Western University, Canada, University of Akron, USA, Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur; was a visiting scientist in Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey, NIST, Boulder, Colorado, Senior Associate (NRC), US EPA, Cincinnati, Ohio. He held administrative positions such as Chairman, West Bengal Pollution Control Board; Head of Chemical Engineering Dept, and Director Academic Staff College, Calcutta University. He is a Past President of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers. His research areas include separation processes, reaction engineering, mathematical modeling, environmental engineering and pollution control. He supervised twelve PhD students and published about 110 research papers in leading international journals and got many awards for teaching and research. His name figures in the Stanford list of 2% top scientists of the world.
