Ann Clare, PhD is an Early Years Foundation Stage consultant working for Trafford Children and Young People′s Service. Ann originally qualified as a secondary school English teacher, before studying for her MA in Early Childhood Education whilst running a small nursery. She also has experience of working as an area manager for a private day nursery chain, and has been an assessor for the Early Years Professional Status. After working for several years in another North West local authority Ann decided to conduct her own research with children under the age of three in out of home care settings, as part of her journey towards gaining her PhD at the University of Sheffield. Ann now supports students studying for their MA in Early Childhood Education at the University of Sheffield. Her main area of interest within the field of Early Years is babies and young children under the age of three. She has written two articles for an early years magazine on this subject, and this is her first book.
