Claudia Jones (1915-1964) was a Trinidad-born Black communist activist and journalist deported from the US for her radical politics. Settling in London, she founded the West Indian Gazette and launched the original Notting Hill Carnival, leaving a lasting mark on Black British culture and internationalist feminism.
