Dan Schlesinger is a professional oil painter based in Princeton, New Jersey. Dan's work has been shown in some of the most prestigious galleries across the world, including the Mall Gallery, the Medici Gallery, the Walker Galleries and the Courcoux & Courcoux Gallery. Having lived a number of years in the Far East, Dan exhibits widely in Japan. Since 2002, under the auspices of the important Prova Gallery, his work has been shown in over fifty solo exhibitions around the country. He is well known in Japan as the illustrator and cover designer of the Japanese edition of the Harry Potter series with over 22 million copies sold. Born in New York City, Dan attended Yale, Harvard and Oxford universities, practising as a lawyer for several years before embracing a full-time career as an artist. A former professional long distance runner with Nike sponsorship, Dan placed 3rd in the 1982 New York City marathon, with a time of 2:11:54. Dan shares his time between London, Princeton and Boston. In his long career he has suffered - and recovered from - numerous injuries. He now runs for fun.
