Darren Wittwer has spent much of his life overcoming extraordinary personal challenges while building a successful international career and a close-knit family. Born in Oxfordshire, his childhood was marked by family separation before he moved to Switzerland at the age of ten, where he completed his education and began his professional life. After qualifying as a chef with distinction, he worked throughout Switzerland and France before studying hotel and business management. He later returned to the United Kingdom, where he continued his career while raising a family with his wife, Monika. Throughout his life, Darren has been driven by a love of learning, resilience and an appreciation for the importance of family. His lifelong affection for dogs began in childhood, but it was the arrival of a black Labrador named Midnight that inspired him to tell the deeply personal story at the heart of this book. Midnight Being Midnight is his first published memoir, combining humour, honesty and warmth in an uplifting reflection on family life, companionship, unconditional love and the extraordinary bond between people and their dogs.
