Sergeant David Vilaysing, known as Sgt V, is a law enforcement veteran, defensive tactics instructor, and de-escalation specialist with over 22 years of combined military and civilian service. Enlisting in the United States Army Reserve at seventeen with the 346th Military Police Battalion, he achieved the rank of sergeant by twenty and transitioned into civilian law enforcement at twenty-two after earning a degree in criminal justice. Throughout his career, he served as a Field Training Officer, Special Situation Response Team member, Taser Instructor, Scenario-Based Training Instructor, and Honor Guard Coordinator. He is now the founder of DXI Training Solutions LLC, where he trains law enforcement and first responders nationwide. Sgt V wrote The Right Tool for the Job: A De-escalation Guide for First Responders because he saw a gap between how conflict resolution was taught and how it actually unfolds in the field.
