Elizabeth Hatcher True is a retired computer programmer and analyst. She graduated from A. C. Flora High School in Columbia, South Carolina, where she served as editor of the school newspaper and worked on the yearbook staff. After attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for two years, she transferred to the University of South Carolina, where she earned a B. S. in Mathematics. After living in Virginia, Rhode Island, California, Colorado, Missouri and finally 40 years in Minnesota, she returned to her childhood home state and settled in Pawleys Island. Intrigued for years by the hidden stories within her father's family, Elizabeth began researching their past. What she discovered proved far more compelling than she had imagined and inspired her to return to her early love of writing. "The Cost of Being True" is a fictionalized, nearly true story of an ordinary family. Its characters are not famous, heroic, or extraordinary - simply people doing their best to navigate society's pressures and life's challenges. Yet their story is universal, echoing in households everywhere.
