BENJAMIN FRANKLIN (17 January 1706-17 April 1790) was an American polymath who was active as a writer, scientist, inventor, statesman, diplomat, printer, publisher, and political philosopher. One of the Founding Fathers, he is also known as the First American for his efforts in unifying the colonies to form today's America.
