Gabriele Dotto, Direttore Scientifico (Director of Scholarly Initiatives) at the Archivio Storico Ricordi, had an extensive career in academic publishing (at the university presses of Chicago and Michigan State, where he is Director Emeritus) and music publishing (Casa Ricordi, first as editor-in-chief, later as publisher, while directing its Historical Archive). He has published and lectured extensively on Italian opera, curated opera-themed exhibits in Milan, Berlin, Brussels, and New York, is co-General Editor (with Roger Parker) of the Donizetti critical edition and General Editor of the Puccini critical edition. He is currently preparing the critical editions of Verdi’s Falstaff and Puccini’s Madama Butterfly.
