Dr Guan is a Project Scientist at the University of California and Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, USA. He received his PhD in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science, from University of Maryland, USA. His interests lie mainly in high-impact weather and climate science, the water cycle in the climate system and large-scale climate variability and trends. Dr Guan has won numerous awards including Top Downloaded Paper, Geophysical Research Letters, 2020; Climate Science Service Award, California Department of Water Resources, 2018; and the Ann G. Wylie Dissertation Fellowship, University of Maryland, College Park, 2007.
