Hal Elliott Wert, an Iowa native, is professor emeritus of history at the Kansas City Art Institute. He is the author of Hoover, the Fishing President, George McGovern and the Democratic Insurgents: The Best Campaign and Political Posters of the Last Fifty Years, and Hope: A Collection of Obama Posters and Prints. He lives in Kansas City, Missouri.
