British photographer David Harriman first picked up a camera aged eleven and soon after built a makeshift darkroom in the family's tiny attic. That early start shaped a career of deep immersion and long-term, research based projects. His work traces the fault lines - geographic, social, economic - that run through American life. He has photographed across all fifty states and has had solo exhibitions in the UK and US, with work appearing in institutions from the National Portrait Gallery, London, to the National Academy of Sciences, Washington, DC. Harriman's storytelling naturally expanded into documentary film. As a director, his work has screened at international film festivals; as a cinematographer, he has shot a feature documentary with an Academy Award winning director. As well as the book, Truth & Kitty is being released as a 93 minute documentary autumn 2026.
