Hein de Haas is a sociologist and geographer who has conducted extensive research on migration issues for over three decades. He is co-director of the International Migration Institute (IMI) at the University of Oxford, and currently Professor of Sociology at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and Professor of Migration and Development at the University of Maastricht. He is lead author of The Age of Migration, a seminal textbook in the field of migration studies. How Migration Really Works is his first trade book.
