Autor/-in: Iliana Marchetti Cross

Iliana Marchetti Cross writes character-driven espionage thrillers where the real danger is rarely the gun in the room - it's the secret someone has kept for twenty years. Raised between a British diplomatic household and a long string of Mediterranean postings, she grew up fluent in the particular silence of embassy dinners, where every toast is a small negotiation. That upbringing left her with an enduring fascination for the quiet, procedural corners of the intelligence world: protocol offices, diplomatic pouches, and the low-ranking staff who see everything and are trusted with nothing. Before turning to fiction full-time, she worked in cross-border risk analysis, background that shows in her research-grounded plotting and her refusal to let a love story slow down a conspiracy. Her novels blend the atmosphere of golden-age espionage fiction with the emotional pacing of contemporary romantic suspense, and she is especially drawn to coastal, historically layered cities - Valletta, Trieste, Tangier - where old empires and new intelligence services still bump elbows. The Ambassador's Silence: A Valletta Confession is the first book in the Concordat Files series.
