Rabbi Joseph H. Krakoff is the President and CEO of the Jewish Hospice and Chaplaincy Network (JHCN) in West Bloomfield, Michigan. In this role, he counsels individuals and families on end-of-life decision-making, palliative and hospice care, grief, and bereavement. Before joining JHCN, he served for 16 years at Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield, Michigan. Rabbi Krakoff earned a BA from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, a Master of Hebrew Letters from American Jewish University in Los Angeles, California, and a Master of Hebrew Letters from the Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) in New York City, where he was ordained in 1998. In March 2025, JTS awarded him a Doctor of Divinity honoris causa. He also holds a certificate in Management Education for Jewish Leaders from Northwestern University's School of Management. He is the author of Never Long Enough: Finding Comfort and Hope Amidst Grief and Loss and Never Long Enough: Coloring/Workbook, and contributed a chapter on hospice care to Now What. A Guide to the Gifts and Challenges of Aging. The Best Dy: A Memoir of Finding Joy, Inspiration, Resilience, and Hope is his latest book. Krakoff lives in Michigan with his wife, Susan. They are the parents of Atara, Micah, and Elan, the in-laws of Shane, and the proud Saba (grandfather) and Bubbe (grandmother) to Lainey Brooke.
