Juan R. Russo is an author with a deep interest in world history, particularly the Byzantine era and medieval Europe. Born and raised in Panama, he attended a Vincentian bilingual high school before earning a degree in economics from Saint John's University in Minnesota and went on to build a decades-long international career in banking across the United States and the Americas. His passion for history has been shaped by extensive reading, travel to historic European sites, and continued study through courses in ancient and medieval history as well as fiction writing. Checkmate at The Maiden's Tower is his debut novel, inspired by his fascination with Greek Fire and the enduring mystery surrounding its lost formula.
