June Underwood lives in Portland, Oregon, in the Montavilla Neighborhood, a little-noticed suburb that also featured in her collection of short stories Wednesdays at Monti's. June's checkered career includes teaching Victorian literature at a small Kansas University, spending time in Wyoming, Virginia, and Long Island, exhibiting quilted art in Ohio as well as oil painting and wire sculptures in Portland, and running two marathons just after she turned fifty. The marathons are long behind her, as are Wyoming and Long Island. A resident with her husband, Jer, in Portland for more than 35 years, she found and finds the city a rich and wonderful place.
