Kathy Anzuino qualified as a veterinary surgeon at the University of Edinburgh in 1993 and spent the following decade working full-time in first-opinion clinical practice across both the private and charity sectors. During this period, she also volunteered overseas, including an 18 period in India, where she contributed to street dog welfare and rabies control programmes. She later completed a residency in farm animal health and welfare at the University of Bristol, where her work encompassed animal welfare research, teaching, and the development of preventive health and welfare strategies. This was followed by further formal study alongside locum veterinary work, before returning to Bristol to undertake doctoral research. She holds the RCVS Certificate in Animal Welfare Science, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of Exeter, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the Open University, and a PhD in goat health and welfare from the University of Bristol. Now semi-retired, she works as a groom at The Donkey Sanctuary, closely involved in all aspects of day-to-day donkey care.
