Kiel Poole grew up in County Cork on the west coast of Ireland, where the Atlantic's edge gave him an early instinct for the stories that margins hold - the lives lived at the boundary of what society acknowledges and what it refuses to see. He has been drawn to American true crime and social history for as long as he can remember, particularly to the cases where justice failed not through negligence but through the deliberate organization of institutions around the interests of the powerful. The Doodler case found him through a late-night reading session that lasted until dawn. He has not stopped thinking about it since. He lives between Cork and California, and he believes the dead deserve better than silence.
