As a native Texan currently based in Houston, I find that my official mailing address is categorized as "overseas. " I served over twenty years in the United States Army, which encompassed both active duty and roles within the Texas National Guard and Army Reserve. My family includes two children-a son and a daughter-who have both gone through college experiences. As an avid traveler, I take great pleasure in immersing myself in diverse cultures. Throughout my life, I've lived in multiple countries such as the Philippines, South Korea, Germany, Kuwait, Colombia, and most recently the Dominican Republic. My passion for exploring new destinations and seeking knowledge has always propelled me forward. My military background has given me a unique perspective on the world, and I am grateful for the opportunities it has afforded me. Even though I was not involved in the process, as a parent, I am proud of my children's achievements in overcoming the difficulties of college and life. Traveling has been a significant part of my life, and I continue to seek out new experiences and connections with people from all walks of life. My time spent living in various countries has enriched my understanding of different cultures and broadened my worldview. I am on sabbatical leave from DeVry College. My objective in attending college is to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the complexities of American society, the internal and external battles for its soul, and the inclination toward self-destruction that defines it. I have just completed my first novel The Last Alamo. is a memoir that tells the poignant yet courageous story of an American from Houston, Texas, who successfully joined the Army and fulfilled a long-inspired familial legacy to serve his country. The Last Alamo. delves into Tyler's career in the U. S. military, detailing the challenges he faced, including discrimination among the people he fought to honor and protect, and his reconciliation with his "dark passenger. ," who had been with him since a childhood trauma.
