Kirby Ip started her popular blog, Eating with Kirby, which focuses on home-cooked recipes and food-centered travel, in 2011. She is the daughter of Chinese-Canadian immigrants and speaks fluent Cantonese, but her Asian and global food interests span widely beyond Chinese cooking, with particular interests in Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Indian cooking as well. She has business/marketing degrees from both Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and Korea University in Seoul. She has more than half a million followers on social media, and her online rice cooker series includes many viral posts that have made her a trusted source for cooking all sorts of things in the rice cooker. She lives with her husband in Burnaby, in metropolitan Vancouver.
