Manoutchehr M. Eskandari-Qajar was born in Vienna, Austria and educated in Vienna, Tehran and the United States, where he received his PhD in 1984 from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His has published numerous articles and chapters in edited volumes on the Qajar era. His two previous books are Life at the Court of the Early Qajar Shahs (Mage Publishers, 2014) and The Artist and the Shah (Mage Publishers, 2022) (See www. magepublishers. com for further details. ) His next book will be on Austrians in Persia and Persians in Austria in the 19th century, also with Mage Publishers, to be published in 2025.
