Marcia Lai Sheong Chang Vogl was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on May 8, 1945 (Victory in Europe Day). My mother said she was full of joy with a new baby, as she listened to the radio declaring the WWII in Europe had ended on that day. The war in the Pacific would also soon be over. By chance, she named me Marcia because she liked the sound of the name. Marcia means "warrior" and so I have been one for righteousness, joy, peace, and family. I am a product of Chinese immigrants to Hawaii, the melting pot of Hawaii culture, and the sun drenched life of Southern California.
