Matthew started writing with poetry in nineteen sixty-eight, keeping handy notebooks of series of poems. In college nineteen seventy-five, he had poems published in the annual literary magazine; subsequently having some poems published in a booklet, Pacific Coast Highway. Graduating with an AA degree in n(nineteen seventy-nine, he continued writing including poetry of which some were published in anthology, American Poetry Association with various authors, e. g. , Poetry Fest. He has continued his writing and includes poetry developed over the years.
