Min Zhou is a Professor and the Carter N. Paden, Jr. Distinguished Chair for Innovation in Material Science and Metals Processing at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). He received his Ph. D. from Brown University in 1993 and joined the faculty of Georgia Tech in 1995. His research focuses on the study of material behavior using multiscale and multiphysics simulations, as well as experiments involving laser interferometry and digital diagnostics. Over the last 30 years, his publications have addressed shear band development in heterogeneous materials, dynamic fracture, the prediction of macroscopic material properties such as the fracture toughness of metals and ceramics, the prediction of ignition and detonation thresholds of energetic materials, the prediction of dielectric breakdown strengths of dielectric and conductive materials, the structure and novel properties of metal and semiconductor nanomaterials, and high-speed temperature and deformation diagnostics. Dr. Zhou is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and was named a World Class University Professor by the National Research Foundation of Korea. He has served as an editor, associate editor, or editorial board member for a number of journals and has delivered over 400 presentations across the United States, Europe, and Asia, more than 200 of which were invited, keynote, or distinguished lectures.
