N. A. Sloan. has had an extensive career in applied marine biology, working for both industry and government in conservation and fisheries. He was the Parks Canada marine ecologist at Gwaii Haanas National Marine Conservation Areas Reserve from 1998 to 2015. With Lyle Dick, he is the co-author of Sea Otters of Haida Gwaii: Icons in Human-Ocean Relations.
