"Stories have always been the centerpiece of my life. My grandfather was a spellbinding storyteller. My mother, a librarian, regularly regaled us with stories. So it wasn't unusual that along with my elementary teaching career I spent more than 30 years as a story creator, teller, and recorder of nine CDs. In addition, two of my three published Civil War books are historical novels for older children and adult readers. As the grandfather of 16 wonderful little ones I have kept the storytelling tradition alive. And now, at 84, this new series of problem-solving stories for children will be the capstone of my 'storied' career. "
