Pamela R. Anderson-Bartholet. 's poetry is significantly informed by her father's stories about serving as an 82nd Airborne paratrooper during World War II, including his participation in the liberation of a German concentration camp at the end of the war. These inherited memories as well as her travels to the Czech Republic-leading her to deeply research the Nazi takeover of then-Czechoslovakia before the war began-are the foundation for Grabbing the Beast by the Throat. She was awarded a Bisbee, Arizona, Travel and Study Fellowship. While she has been known by Pamela Anderson for much of her life, she has never owned (or worn) a red swimsuit and has never seen an episode of Baywatch.
