Born in Delta, Colorado, in 1931, Raul A. Sandoval was educated in the public schools of Fullerton, California where his family moved in 1938. In 1947 he joined the military and spent most of the next 28 years in USAF Air Intelligence. He counts seven Air Medals among his many decorations. During his military career he pursued his education earning credits from the University of Maryland, Syracuse University, and after retirement, an Associate in Arts degree from Fullerton College. His language studies include Russian, Japanese, Vietnamese and he is fluent in Spanish. After retirement from the military, Sandoval worked in the aerospace industry for 17 years and as a civilian flew intelligence missions against Iraq with the Iranian Air Force.
