Roger Thompson is Emeritus Professor of American History at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, England, where he taught American colonial history for thirty years. One of the leading British historians of early New England, Thompson has devoted his career to recovering the lives of ordinary men and women in the seventeenth-century Atlantic world. His books include Women in Stuart England and America: A Comparative Study. (1974), Mobility and Migration: East Anglian Founders of New England, 1629-1640.
