Russell Discombe is an amateur astrophotographer, landscape photographer, and wildlife photographer based in Gloucestershire, UK. Inspired during the Covid lockdowns of 2020-2021, he developed a passion for deep sky astrophotography and rapidly progressed from beginner to producing images published internationally, including recognition by NASA as Astronomy Photo of the Day (APOD). Using telescopes, star trackers, astronomy cameras, and equipment based largely in his garden observatory, Russell captures detailed images of galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, and the Milky Way. The Back Garden Astronomer documents both his learning journey and the extraordinary beauty of the night sky accessible to amateur astronomers everywhere.
