One of Ruth Leedy Carr's early ambitions was to be a science writer. While studying journalism at Indiana University she specialized in science stories, in addition to taking a second major in psychology. She began researching the cataclysmic prophecies of Edgar Cayce in relation to the hollow Earth theory in 1980. Her first two books were published by Gray Barker of Saucerian Press, the original publisher of Raymond Bernard's classic The Hollow Earth. She produced five books in the 1980s and has done numerous newsletters since that time. She was proclaimed by William L. Moore, a noted UFO researcher, to be the world's foremost proponent of the hollow Earth theory.
