Samira Omar Asem is a plant ecology and environmental science expert with a PhD from UC Berkeley. She spent fifty years at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), serving as Principal Research Scientist and later as Director General from 2016 to 2022, retiring in 2025. Dr Omar specialises in ecological restoration, environmental rehabilitation, and scientific research leadership. She belongs to several organisations and authored Vegetation of Kuwait, a book recognised by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS). Her work also includes studies on Lebanon's flora at Al Salam Village, striving to showcase the natural beauty of Mount Lebanon.
