Selçuk Bayin (born 1951, Ankara, Turkey) received his B. Sc. in Physics from Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1974 and his M. Sc. (1976) and Ph. D. (1979) from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. After a postdoctoral year at the University of Victoria (Canada), he joined METU as Assistant Professor in 1981. He spent 1983-1985 at Canisius College (USA) before returning to METU, where he became Full Professor in 1993. He is currently affiliated with the Institute of Applied Mathematics at METU. His research interests include cosmology, general relativity, and fractional calculus. He is Member of the American Physical Society, the Turkish Physical Society, and ALCS and serves as Referee for leading journals such as Physical Review. and Journal of Mathematical Physics. Bayin is Author of widely used textbooks, including Mathematical Methods in Science and Engineering. (2006) and Essentials of Mathematical Methods in Science and Engineering. (2008), both published by Wiley, with second editions released in 2018 and 2019. He also authored The Pursuit of Reality: Narrative History of the Quantum and the Great Minds That Made It. (Springer, 2023). His books are widely adopted in physics and engineering education and serve as key references for researchers.
