Stefan Rohdewald has been Professor for Southeastern European History at the University of Giessen from 2013 and is Professor for Eastern and South Eastern European history at the University of Leipzig since 2020. He focuses on Eastern European urban history, discourses of remembrance, transconfessionality and Ruthenian/Belarusian/Ukrainian history. From 2017 to 2024 he is the Chairperson of the priority programme Transottomanica: Eastern European-Ottoman-Persian Mobility Dynamics financed by the German Research Foundation.
