Tibor Doyle grew up in County Galway with a battered set of encyclopaedias and an early fascination with the ancient world that never quite left him. After years spent chasing that interest through second-hand bookshops, archaeological society lectures, and eventually postgraduate study touching on the ancient Near East, he turned his attention specifically to the Iranian plateau and the extraordinary, under-told history of pre-Islamic Persian religion. He is particularly drawn to the places where empires met, traded, and argued - the frontiers where gods changed names and travellers carried faith as far as their roads would take them. Tibor writes narrative history for readers who want the sweep of a good story without sacrificing the rigour of the sources behind it. He lives on the west coast of Ireland, within sight of the Atlantic, and divides his time between writing and long, distractible walks.
