Jaan Valsiner. is Professor of Psychology at Clark University, USA. He is the author and editor of numerous books and many articles, recent publications include The Guided Mind. (1998), Culture and the Development of Children′s Action. (Second Edition, 1997) and The Social Mind. (with Rene van der Veer, 2000). He has been awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Prize for the Social Sciences in Germany (1995). A native of Estonia, he has taught in universities all over the world, most notably in Brazil, Australia, The Netherlands, Italy and Germany.
