Beschreibung
Long ago in the royal courts of the Kandyan Kingdom, there lived a jester whose cleverness was legendary. His name was Andare - and he was unlike any jester before or since. In these six beloved tales from the folklore of Sri Lanka, Andare outsmarts kings, ministers and neighbours alike. He tricks two deaf women into a royal argument. He convinces an entire village he has drowned himself - with a stone. He outperforms every royal minister in the palace pond. And through every mischief and scheme, he never once loses his quick smile or his quick mind. A trickster of the Kandyan court, Andare's stories have been told across Sri Lanka for centuries - passed down through generations as some of the island's most beloved folk tales. Now retold in English for young readers everywhere. Perfect for readers aged 9-12. One full colour illustration per story.
