Beschreibung
Long ago in the royal courts of the Kandyan Kingdom, there lived a jester whose cleverness was legendary. His name was Andare - and in Volume 2 of his beloved tales, he is more mischievous than ever. In these six authentic stories from the folklore of Sri Lanka, Andare attempts the impossible - bringing half the moon to the King in a clay pot. He outsmarts an entire village who believe he can move an immovable rock. He tricks the King himself into calling sugar sand - then eats it dramatically with his young son. He proves to the King that a full stomach always makes room for something truly loved. He frightens a dishonest toddy tapper with a genuine Sinhala curse poem - then removes the curse with an equally authentic blessing. And he solves a years-long problem with his neighbour's tree by taking a royal errand entirely too literally. Six more beloved tales from the Sinhala oral tradition, retold with warmth, humour and deep cultural authenticity by a Sri Lankan author. For readers aged 9-12. One full colour illustration per story.
