The Problem Solver Series - Solutions - Drug Lords - Border Crossers - Of Rhinos and Horns - The Problem Solver CollectionBorder CrossersIan takes in the scene as the news camera zooms in as the police open the back of a semi. The heat waves shimmering up from the pavement speak to the extreme desert heat. One of the police officer turns and holds his hand over his mouth as he gets sick. The people in the back of the semi are dead and it is clear that many tried unsuccessfully to claw their way out. The camera man turns the camera to the field reporter who describes the scene and the awful smell. Even a hard life in the US is better than living in fear or being suppressed. Getting across the border is a risk and a Challenge. It is a risk that desperate people are willing to take. Imelda and her daughter, Elisa, nearly die taking that risk. Smuggling People into the US is a huge money maker. Letting people die in the heat in the back of a truck, brings out "The Problem Solver. "He handles the situation with a sense of urgency and finality. The Problem Solver saves them. But has little impact on the Border Crossers
