Gee Vaucher

This is the first comprehensive study of the artist Gee Vaucher, a key figure in the punk and protest art of the 1970s and 1980s. Best known for the collage work she created as part of the anarcho-punk collective Crass, Vaucher has been an inspiration to a generation of artists and designers. The book follows Vaucher's progress from art school in the 1960s through radical art collectives in the 1970s to the present day, examining her unique position connecting avant-garde movements, counterculture, punk and contemporary street art. As an artist Vaucher rejects all 'isms', but her work offers a unique take on the history of feminist art. The book explores how her life has shaped her output, with a particular focus on the open-house collective at Dial House in Essex, a centre for radical creativity.
