The thesis is structured as follows: Following the introduction, Chapter 1 briefly defines feminist linguistics and feminist language criticism. Chapter 2 examines the difference between biological sex and gender identity. Chapter 3 provides an overview of the current state of the discourse on gender-neutral language. Chapter 4 examines how the -notation - which not only encompasses traditional genders but is addressed to everyone - is discussed in the media. Finally, Chapter 5 presents an interview with a member of the editorial team at Denkbilder to explore their experiences with the use of the -notation. This is followed by a concluding reflection.
