Beschreibung
In this volume, we find monographs of Greek myths, known and lesser-known. They range from Prometheus to Sisyphus, from Tantalus to Orpheus, via Hercules to Odysseus. Hardly any of the characters now passed into our common parlance are missing: Nemesis, Narcissus, Ariadne, Medea, Tantalus, etc. But are we sure we know who these characters are and what they represent in myth. If you can read all the way through this volume, you can surely learn more about them. Because, in addition to the myth itself, the author will try to take you by the hand into what can be approached by these archetypes today. Each myth is compared to present-day happenings. Accompanying each one, you will find tales, true or fictional, that may remind you of the original myth itself and provide a demonstration of how the events of our mythological heroes are not so far removed from our everyday reality. Many of the photos show painted ceramics from the author's personal collection.
