Beschreibung
A step-by-step guide to modern shooting etiquette, packed with amusing quotes and anecdotes, this book shows the Gun how to be the perfect guest in the field-and, crucially, how to be invited back. Inspired by the fact that many people now take up shooting as adults, having missed the traditional childhood apprenticeship, it covers everything you need to know but no one ever tells you, because you are simply "expected to know. ". The book follows the shooting day in a clear, logical order, from receiving an invitation and arriving at the shoot, to shooting safely and courteously, holding your own in the line, marking your birds, knowing what never to say, and understanding how and when to tip the keeper. Much of the guidance is drawn from nearly one hundred interviews with beaters, keepers, flankers, pickers-up, shoot organizers, shoot owners, and grouse-moor-owning earls and dukes. With hilarious cartoons by Oliver Preston, this is an entertaining and informative guide to shooting etiquette, and the perfect gift for any shooting man or woman, whether a novice shot or an experienced Gun.
