The book is a guide for new trainee counsellors and psychotherapists in training. Its aim is to inform new trainees about the main aspects of their training journey both in the training room and in a clinical placement. It considers the challenges that a new trainee may encounter and provides guidance about how to manage these challenges. The book is primarily focused on new trainees starting on professional training and entering clinical practice in a placement. Counsellors and psychotherapists face many of the same challenges when starting out although their qualifications and route to professional accreditation are different. The book highlights many of the significant hurdles, milestones and challenges on the road.
